On August 1, it was time once again: as every year, we headed to Mallorca to spend the second half of the year there. Our arrival was originally planned for the evening – but three days before departure, everything changed: My trainer asked me if I wanted to compete with King in the 41st edition of the traditional Trofeo S.A.R. Infanta Elena CSN2*, a prestigious and long-standing show jumping competition on Mallorca. The tournament, named after the Spanish princess Infanta Elena, enjoys royal patronage and has been held for many years, making it one of the most important equestrian events on the island. So suddenly, instead of a calm arrival, it was straight from the plane into the saddle – a thrilling challenge right from the start!

A Spontaneous Change of Plans – and Zero Training!

We quickly rebooked our flight and landed in the morning. The last time I had ridden King was back in April at the Moura Tours, so this really was a leap into the deep end. No warm-up ride, no time to get back into the rhythm – just straight into competition mode.

My 1.20 m class started just before midnight, and I had to stay completely focused – only the top 10 would make it to the final on Sunday. Riding under floodlights, in the warm summer air, with the atmosphere buzzing with tension, was a completely new experience for me – but King and I stayed focused and confident, and in the end, we managed to secure our spot in the final, which was such an exciting feeling!

The Big Moment – Fabiola Fruchaud Trophy

With our spot in the final secured, the excitement carried over to Sunday night for the 1.25 m Fabiola Fruchaud Trophy– a demanding two-round competition that truly tested focus, precision, and harmony with the horse. King was full of energy, completely attentive, and felt immediately familiar beneath me despite the months apart.

We navigated both rounds with confidence and consistency, and when the results were announced, I could hardly believe it: 3rd place at my very first show together after four months without competing! It was a thrilling confirmation that our partnership works even under spontaneous, high-pressure conditions.

Conclusion: The Perfect Start to the Season in Spain

This show was not only a sporting highlight for me but also a huge boost of motivation. Seeing how well King and I work together, even without preparation, gives me so much confidence for the rest of the season.

I can’t wait to see what the next few weeks bring – and of course, I’ll take you along here on my blog: from the next classes to those unforgettable moments all across Spain – starting as soon as September 12, when I’ll be back in Valencia for Moura Tours!
