About me

Hello, I’m Mia Lerchl, an international show jumping rider, born in December 2011 in Dresden, Germany. My journey into the world of equestrian sports began very early – when I was just three years old. Back then, I sat on a horse for the very first time in Cape Town, South Africa. Even though I was so young, that moment left a lasting impression on my heart. Even then, I felt a special connection to these amazing animals, and from that day on, riding has been a huge part of my life.

My love for equestrian sports has become an important part of who I am, and I’ve had the chance to try out and experience many exciting things along the way. Until I was eleven, I didn’t just focus on riding but also discovered vaulting. Vaulting, which is gymnastics on horseback, brought me so much joy and helped me build balance and trust on the horse.

However, my focus now is completely on show jumping. This is where I can put all my energy, concentration, and passion. I train and compete in both Spain and South Africa, which gives me the chance to grow and learn in different environments. In October 2024, I achieved one of my first biggest goals by winning the Children’s 1* Balearic Championship. Show jumping fascinates me because it requires so many different skills: courage, endurance, precision, leadership, and above all, trust between me and my horse. Every training session and every jump challenges me and motivates me to keep improving.

For me, equestrian sports are not just a hobby but a true life’s dream. I love setting new goals and working toward them step by step. Every day of training brings new experiences and challenges that make me stronger and show me how far I can go. The joy I feel when riding, the moments of calm and focus, and the incredible feeling of flying over obstacles with my horse – all of these make this sport so special to me.
