The Mediterranean Equestrian Tour 2024 – MET – was a milestone for King and me. From December 6th to 15th, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in this internationally prestigious show jumping event in Oliva Nova, Spain, for the very first time – and it was an experience I will never forget!

The MET is one of the most renowned international show jumping competition in Europe, offering riders from all over the world the chance to compete in a stunning setting alongside the best of the best. It had always been a dream of mine to be part of this tour, and the fact that it became a reality at just 12 years old made the experience even more special.
The organization on-site was truly impressive: perfect conditions, exceptional arenas, an amazing atmosphere, and, of course, the unique Mediterranean flair. From the moment we arrived and immersed ourselves in this special competition vibe, every moment felt like a highlight.
King and Me – A Strong Team on New Ground
In the weeks leading up to the MET, King and I trained intensively, knowing that this would be a big challenge. After all, we were stepping onto an international stage, surrounded by incredibly talented riders and horses.
Yet we held our own! Our best placings were in the 1.20 m jumping classes: a 6th place and an 8th place. I’m incredibly proud of King, who showed his composure and fighting spirit, proving that he belongs at this level.
The courses were demanding and technical – exactly what we needed to grow as a team. Every round taught me something new, whether it was refining my focus on the track lines or adjusting King’s pace more precisely.
Lessons That Last
Of course, my first participation wasn’t just about placements. It was the entire experience that enriched me: meeting riders from various countries, soaking in new impressions, and learning from the best. A particularly joyful surprise was running into two girls from Cape Town, South Africa, whom I already knew from previous competitions there. Seeing them again at the MET was completely unexpected and made the event even more special. I’m looking forward to competing with them again in South Africa – a reminder of how wonderfully connected the equestrian world can be.
The MET showed me how much potential King and I have and reminded me how important it is to believe in yourself – even when stepping onto a big stage for the first time. However, it also reminded me how unpredictable this sport can be. I even had a fall from King – something that happens to me only very occasionally. For it to happen after such a long time, and during such a significant event, felt surreal – much like the photo that captured the moment.

Looking Ahead
After this incredible experience, I’m more motivated than ever to keep improving. My goal is to compete at this level consistently in the years to come.
As a little teaser: August 2025 will bring another highlight, as I’ll be participating in one of the biggest indoor show jumping competitions in the world. On which continent and in which city this event takes place, I’ll reveal in one of my upcoming posts. Stay tuned – the journey continues to be exciting!
