My first Equitation competition - a completely new experience! This special competition was with White Queen's Cartier Z, my new horse. It was not only my first time in this discipline, but also Cartier's first Equitation competition. And we had just one week of training together!

Last year, I had already participated in an Eventing competition with Generation X – an amazing experience, especially the cross-country, which I really enjoyed. But Equitation was a completely new challenge for me. Nevertheless, I was convinced that Cartier and I would manage it together.
Challenge – Technique, Style, and Adaptability
Equitation requires particularly high demands in terms of technical precision, style, and harmony between rider and horse. The competition consists of three parts:
Dressage – Here, the correct riding of various movements such as canter changes, speed differences and precise transitions is judged.
Jumping – The focus is on a stylistically clean round with precisely ridden lines and a calm, balanced posture.
Adaptability – The most exciting part: The top riders of the class swap horses and complete another course – with just a few minutes to get used to the horse!
Swapping horses always brings a certain level of uncertainty. What is the new horse like? How does it react to me? How do I manage to form a strong bond with the horse in such a short time? But that’s exactly what makes Equitation so special – the ability to quickly adapt to an unknown horse and build a harmonious connection.
An unforgettable Success
And yes, in the end, everything came together perfectly! Cartier and I quickly found our rhythm, and our trust paid off: We took 1st place in both Junior/Adult Intermediate classes!
This show was not just a competition for me, but a valuable experience that showed me how important trust, adaptability, and feel are in equestrian sports. I am incredibly proud of White Queen's Cartier Z and look forward to everything that lies ahead!
With this success behind me, I can’t wait to continue growing in Equitation. Stay tuned - there will soon be new exciting insights.
